Thomas M. "Mike" Kelly

Mike Kelly, 71, from Severna Park, formerly of Annapolis, passed away the morning of September 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Mike Kelly was born April 8, 1947 in Annapolis, MD to the late Thomas C. Kelly and Margaret Feeser. He grew up in West Annapolis and is a 1966 graduate of Annapolis High School. While attending Annapolis High, he wrestled in the heavyweight division for the fighting Panthers. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He completed basic training at Parris Island in November, 1966 and then married his high school sweetheart Dena Lewnes in December of that same year. He served a tour in Vietnam as a jet engine mechanic and went on to serve 10 years in the Marine Corps where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the Marine Corps, he went on to a very successful career in the computer field as a pre-sale engineer. Mike was a member of the Gideons International for over 20 years. He was also very active in his church. He loved attending Navy football games. Beat Army! Mike is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dena, 3 children, Dawn Kelly of Sykesville, Md, Tom Kelly and wife Gayle of Hollywood, MD and April Gremillion and husband John of Severna Park, MD, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at John A. Taylor Funeral home in Annapolis on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10 am with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mike Kelly may be directed to support the Liver Transplant Dept at the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation.
