Douglas Remaley



Douglas Ayers Remaley, 67, of Nags Head, NC died on September 6, 2014 at The Outer Banks Hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mildred Atherton Remaley. Mr. Remaley served his country with the Air National Guard. He started his public safety career as a police officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department before joining the ranks of the Annapolis Fire Department where he served as a Lieutenant and past president of the Annapolis Professional Firefighters Local 1926. He moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he served as Fire Marshal and the first career Fire Chief of the Nags Head Fire Department. He retired as the Dare County Fire Marshal and formerly served on the Nags Head Board of Commissioners. He was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church. Doug is survived by his wife, Debra Wohlford Remaley; two sons, Douglas M. Remaley and his wife, Debra of Annapolis, MD and Dustin M. Remaley and his wife, Diane of Washington, DC; and three grandchildren, Douglas, Brian and Kyle Remaley and Uncle to Kim Viesins and Deborah Hunsicker. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Remaley Hunsicker.
