Ida Mae Blunt Shorter

April 30, 1948 - June 12, 2021

Ida Mae Blunt Shorter was born on April 30, 1948 to Ida Blunt and was raised by her grandparents, Howard and Carrie Blunt. On Saturday, June 12, 2021, she departed this life.

Ida Mae received her education in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools.  For many years, she was employed, as a nurse, with Norwood Nursing Center. She was also employed by various other nursing facilities until she retired.

Ida Mae enjoyed going to church, getting her hair done in the latest styles, eating out with her best friend Beverly McGowan, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.

Ida was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Blunt; grandparents, Howard and Carrie Blunt; and son, Breck Ontario Blunt.

Ida Mae leaves to treasure her memories, her husband, Alphonso “Brother” Shorter; one daughter, Kisha Blunt; six grandchildren, Jasmine Stafford, James Jones Jr., Markus Jones, Marrece Jones, Kiema Ba, and Kiyrah Badu; one great-granddaughter, Nylah Stafford; one sister-in-law, Debra Shorter; one brother-in-law, Augustine Shorter; best friend, Beverly McGowan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
