James "Jim" Carvel Paxton, III
August 23, 1947 - February 21, 2013
James Carvel “Jim” Paxton III, 65, of Littlestown, Pa., died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born August 23, 1947 in Annapolis, he was the son of the late James Carvel Paxton Jr. and Oeria Joan Anderson Paxton. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Dawn M. East Paxton.
He graduated from Western Maryland College and began to work for the National Park Service in Gettysburg, Pa. He was employed by Carroll County Public Schools from 1974-1988 teaching instrumental music at Sandymount Elementary, West Middle, and Westminster High Schools and Baltimore County Public Schools from 1989-2004 teaching Instrumental music at Dulaney High School.
Following his retirement, he worked for Stu’s Music Shop in Westminster. He was the head symphonic band director for the American Music Abroad Bronze Tour and the assistant director for the Lyric Band of Hanover, Pa. He also conducted pit orchestras for various musicals at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter McKenna Farquharson of Littlestown, Pa., sister and brother-in-law Lucinda Paxton-Bowser and husband Thomas of Annapolis, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Rachel East of Deland, Fl. and mother-in-law Melynda East of Westminster. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother John Lawson Paxton.
