In Memory

John Sweeney

Hi Betty, I trust that this email finds you well. I never noticed this: John Sweeney is not on the memorial page. Indeed, he's not even on the student roster or in the senior photos. When I returned from the Army, Fred Behlke told me that John was part of the crew of the USS Scorpion that sank in 1968. John was a very engaging guy with a quick sense of humor. He always had something cool to say when you passed him in the hall. I met him when we were working on the Senior Play - Ten Little Indians. He gave a great performance as Judge Wargrave, which you can see credited on page 168. John spent his summers in Massachusetts. We were fortunate to run into someone here who knew him and remembered John the same way we did. I think that John had an unusual relationship with AHS. He was older that we were, and I seem to remember that he was in the Navy, but attending AHS to get his HS diploma.
