Dennis Brooke Meade, Jr.

April 23, 1947  -  January 18, 2024

Brooke Meade Jr., of Norfolk, VA. passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024 at the age of 76.

Born and raised in Annapolis, MD, he was a proud graduate of Annapolis Senior High School. Brooke began taking guitar lessons at a young age, starting him on his lifelong musical journey. In the 1960s, his band "The Fabulous Avalons," a local and regional favorite, played Motown and Soul music, later being inducted into the Maryland Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. Brooke later went on to release an album of original contemporary songs of praise. After a successful life on the road playing music, Brooke pursued a career in the tire and automobile repair industry, where he retired. He was a devout Christian who proudly served as music director for his beloved Willoughby Chapel in Norfolk.

Preceding him home were his Mother Esther, his father Brooke Sr., and his eldest sister Shirley.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Kathy, Pat, John, and Robbie; his children: Stacy Meade, Aubrie McCoy, Brooke Meade III, Cameron Meade (Stephanie), and Richard Frye. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Gregory, Avery, Kelly, Ayden, Kye, Joy, and John; many nieces and nephews and his wonderful girlfriend and fishing buddy of 11 years, Ruthie Barbour.
